Trump has decided to appoint Indian-origin physician and economist Dr. Jai Bhattacharya as the director of the National Institute of Health (NIH). Jai Bhattacharya will be responsible for the country's leading medical research institute.
As director of NIH, Bhattacharya will oversee 27 institutions. These institutions work to prepare vaccines and develop new medicines for epidemics.
Bhattacharya gave information about this by posting on X. Bhattacharya said –
I am honored to be chosen by President Donald Trump to be the director of. We will reform America's scientific institutions so they can be trusted again and better use science to make America healthy again.
Bhattacharya is a professor of health policy at Stanford University and a research associate at the National Bureau of Economics Research.
