Another conspiracy to assassinate former US President Donald Trump, who registered a bumper victory in the US presidential elections, has been revealed. The US Intelligence Department has accused an Iranian citizen named Farhad Shakeri in the case.
According to the FBI, Farhad Shakeri is an 'Iranian asset' and a member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). On October 7, Farhad was entrusted by the Iranian government with the task of making a plan to assassinate Trump. FBI says that IRGC had also set a deadline for this.
US Attorney General Merrick B. Garland says, “The Justice Department has arrested an Iranian government asset who was tasked with running a criminal network to assassinate several American leaders, including Trump.”
FBI Director Christopher Ray says that Iran is constantly trying to target American citizens, leaders and government officials. The IRGC has conspired with criminals to attack our people and this will not be tolerated. America has declared IRGC a terrorist organization.
On the other hand, Iran has termed these allegations of conspiracy to assassinate Trump as false. Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghai said, “Iran strongly rejects allegations of targeting any current or former US official.”
Who is 'Iranian Asset Shakeri'?
According to media reports, Farhad Shakeri came to America as a child and was deported in 2008 after being convicted in a robbery case. Currently he is in Iran.
Apart from this, Shakeri is also accused of killing an Iranian citizen who was opposing the Iranian government in New York. In 2019, Shakeri was detained in Sri Lanka on heroin smuggling charges. Shakeri is also accused of helping many terrorist organizations.
Trump's security is a tough challenge
On July 13, Trump was shot at a rally in Pennsylvania.
There have been two fatal attacks on Trump in the last 6 months. Trump was also shot at at a rally in Pennsylvania during the election campaign in July. The bullet had missed his ear. The person who fired the shot was killed on the spot by the Secret Service.
Two days later, on July 16, police arrested a 21-year-old man with an AK-47 outside the Republican Party convention in America's Milwaukee city. Then, just two months later, there was a second fatal attack on him. In this too, Trump's life was narrowly saved. The accused was arrested.
In such a situation, after the revelation of this third major conspiracy against him, Trump's security has become the first priority for the American Secret Service. Robotic dogs are being used for patrolling Trump's home in Florida.
