Azaan has been banned from speakers in mosques in Israel. Defense Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has ordered police to confiscate speakers installed in mosques and impose fines for making noise.
According to the Times of Israel, complaints have been made about loud noise coming from mosques in East Jerusalem and many other areas.
Those demanding a speaker ban say that its loud sound disturbs morning sleep. Ben Gvir told police commanders that he will soon present a bill that will increase the fine on noisy mosques.
Voices of protest have started being raised against this decision in Israel itself. Mayors of some cities said – We see this step of Ben Gvir as a provocation against Muslims, it can spread riots.
Ben Gvir is counted among the most fundamentalist leaders of Israel. He is often in the news for his controversial statements.
Ben Gvir accused of politicizing the police The Abraham Initiatives Organization, which works to increase cooperation between Jews and Arabs in Israel, also opposed it. The organization said- This is an attempt to politicize the police. While criminals roam freely in the country, Ben Gvir is using the police as a political weapon.
At the same time, Mansour Abbas, president of the Arab Islamist party Ra'am, appealed to the government to control Ben Gvir. They are provoking Muslims and forcing them to respond.
Islam's third holiest mosque is located in Jerusalem, from where there are often reports of clashes between Muslims and the Israeli army.
Ben Gvir proud of the decision to remove the speaker Ben Gvir told Channel 12 that he is proud of his decision to remove loudspeakers from mosques. These speakers have become a threat to Israeli citizens.
He said- Most western countries and even some Arab countries control noise and make many laws on this matter. It is ignored only in Israel. Praying is a basic right, but not at the cost of one's life.
Saudi and Indonesia also reduced the volume of the speaker Different countries of the world have different rules regarding the use of speakers during religious programs. In Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and France, loudspeakers are not used for Azaan.
A few years ago, Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince (ruler) Mohammed bin Salman had ordered all mosques to slow down loudspeakers during Azaan or other occasions. At the same time, in Indonesia, a country with a large Muslim population, the volume of loudspeakers in 70 thousand mosques was reduced.
On the decision to reduce the volume of the speaker in Saudi, a minister had said that the time of Namaz is fixed, there is no need to announce it loudly.
