Russian President Vladimir Putin's first reaction regarding the presidential elections in America has come to light. He congratulated Donald Trump on Thursday on being elected the 47th President of America.
According to India Today report, Putin said at an international forum in the Black Sea resort in Sochi city of Russia – I congratulate Trump on being elected President of the United States of America. He is a brave man.
Trump expressed his desire to restore America's relations with Russia and talked about helping end the Ukrainian war. I think attention should be paid to this. I am ready to talk to Trump.
In fact, during the election campaign, Donald Trump had said in an interview that if he had been the President, he would not have allowed the Russia-Ukraine war to start. I will resolve this war within 24 hours of becoming President again.

Trump is the first leader in American history to defeat a female candidate twice in the presidential election. An interesting fact is that apart from 2016 and 2024, no woman has ever contested a presidential election. Trump has won the elections both the times.

Trump's party has majority in the upper and powerful house, the Senate. In America, along with the presidency, elections have also been held for both the houses of the Parliament, the Senate and the House of Representatives. The Senate is like the Rajya Sabha of India and the House of Representatives like the Lok Sabha. The Senate is the upper house. Out of its 100 seats, each state has a share of 2 seats.
Elections for one-third of the Senate seats are held every 2 years. This time elections were held on 34 seats. With the latest results, the Republican Party has secured 54 seats, which is equal to the majority. Earlier it had 49 seats.
In America, the Senate is more powerful because it has the right to approve or disapprove important issues like impeachment and foreign agreements. Its members are called senators, who are elected for 6 years, whereas members in the House of Representatives are elected for only two years.

Although the upper house i.e. the Senate is powerful, both the houses have equal roles in running the government. A bill can be passed by majority in either of the two houses of Parliament. Having majority in both houses will give Trump a free hand to make policies and make appointments to big posts.

Electors are elected in their place, who contest elections in the name of the presidential candidate. The number of electors is fixed in every state. In every state of America, electoral votes are fixed on the basis of population.
There are a total of 538 electoral votes in 50 states. The one who gets 270 votes is elected President. Voters vote for electors in the state. These electors belong to the Republican or Democratic party. Generally, in the state where the presidential candidate gets the most votes, he gets all the seats there.
Let us understand this with an example. For example, Pennsylvania has 19 electoral votes. If the Republican Party gets 9 votes and the Democratic Party gets 8 votes, then due to more votes, all 19 electoral votes will go to the Republican Party. This is the trend in 48 states of America.
However, the states of Nebraska and Maine have different systems. In these states, the party gets the same number of seats as it gets electoral votes. For example, in this election, Trump has got 1 electoral vote and Kamala Harris has got 1 electoral vote i.e. 1-1 seat from the state of Maine.
