Maryam Aurangzeb said that today the Air Quality Index (AQI) of Lahore has reached more than 1000 and the wind direction is currently from Amritsar-Chandigarh towards Lahore. He told that the speed of eastern winds coming from India is fast, due to which the pollution level is increasing in Lahore. Its AQI has again reached 1173. If the wind direction is from Pakistan towards India then the AQI is also reaching close to 500.

Maryam Aurangzeb said that this pollution, which started from Delhi, engulfs the atmosphere of Lahore and the air quality level of Lahore remains negative 220 days out of 365 of the year. The wind direction is likely to remain towards Lahore for the next one week, due to which pollution may increase further.

Pakistan will use diplomacy channels

Maryam Aurangzeb said that the Punjab government will write a letter to the Pakistan government on Monday and inform them about the situation in Lahore. Along with this, Pakistan government will also be asked to use its diplomatic channels.

It is clear that now Pakistan is planning to put pressure on India by blaming India for the pollution happening in Lahore.

Classes will be held online

Lahore schools have been closed for a week. The department has ordered that children will take online classes for a week. At the same time, the industry has also been asked to cooperate, otherwise strict measures will be taken. Water will be sprinkled on the roads and construction work has been asked to stop. Apart from this, 50% of the employees working in private and government offices have been asked to work from home.

Punjab government is keeping an eye on it for 8 months

Maryam Aurangzeb said that the Punjab government is keeping an eye on the weather of Lahore for the last 8 months. If currently Lahore's AQI is more than 1000 then it can even go up to 45. Many strict steps have also been taken. Right now the stubble burning season is going on so the situation will get worse. In such a situation, people have been instructed to stay in their homes and wear masks when going out of the house for important work.
