Third day of Haryana Assembly session: Bill to increase powers of Judicial Magistrates to be introduced; CM Saini will pass 4 more bills – Chandigarh News

Today is the third day of Haryana Assembly session. After discussing the Governor's address in the 2-day proceedings, some important bills will now be introduced. The most important bill is going to be the Indian Civil Defense Code (Haryana Amendment) Bill 2024.

With this bill, the power to impose fines in criminal cases in the Judicial Magistrate courts established in 22 districts of the state and about 3 dozen sub-divisions of the state will increase by 10 times.

In the ongoing first session of the 15th Haryana Assembly, state Chief Minister Nayab Saini will present four more bills in the House.

Now fine can be up to Rs 5 lakh At present, the punishment can be imprisonment for a maximum of 3 years or a fine of up to Rs 50,000 or both or community service. Now by amending it, a provision has been made to increase the amount of fine by 10 times from the existing maximum of Rs 50 thousand to Rs 5 lakh.

Similarly, under Section 23(3), a Judicial Magistrate of the Second Class can currently give a sentence of imprisonment up to a maximum of one year or a fine of up to Rs 10,000 or both or community service. Now a provision is being made to increase the amount of fine by 10 times from the current maximum of Rs 10,000 to Rs 1 lakh.

President will approve Legal analyst Hemant Kumar said that after the Indian Civil Defense Code (Haryana Amendment) Bill, 2024 is passed by the Haryana Assembly next week, it will be sent to the Union Home Ministry. After this this bill will be sent to Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Only the President of the country Draupadi Murmu will give her approval to this amended bill. This entire process may take a few months. Only after this will the passed bill become legally legal.
