Shaina NC not only objected to this but also lodged an FIR. While talking to Dainik Global News Daily, Shaina said, 'This is the same Arvind Sawant, who got us campaigned in 2014 and 2019. At that time I was Ladki (Ladli) sister. Now in 2024 they say that I am imported goods.

After Mumbai's Mumbadevi seat went to Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), Shaina left BJP and joined Shiv Sena (Shinde faction). The party also gave him the ticket. Congress candidate Amin Patel, who has been winning thrice, is in the election field in front of him.

Shaina NC is a fashion designer by profession. She is a famous personality of Mumbai's glamor world. Taking out time amid the election campaign, Shaina talked to us about election issues, allegations of being an outsider and Arvind Sawant's statement. Read the full interview…

Question: What are the issues of election on Mumbadevi seat? answer: Mumbadevi area is the most backward in South Mumbai. For the last 15 years you have given a chance to only one leader. Despite this, that leader has not done any work to bring change there. No cluster redevelopment was done in the area.

No plan has been worked on in this area, so that development can take place here. I believe that the same male leader has got the chance thrice. Therefore, now the time has come that a woman leader should also be given a chance.

Question: There is a lot of discussion about Majhi Ladki Behen Yojana in Maharashtra. Does Mahayuti seem to be benefiting from this? answer: I can say with great pride that the Chief Minister brought the Ladki Behan Scheme. This is a scheme which has benefited 2.5 crore women in Maharashtra. Only in my Mumbadevi assembly constituency, 40 thousand women have benefited from this scheme of Shinde government. Out of this 40 thousand, 15 thousand are Muslim women.

When people say that women should be strong and self-reliant, then I feel that Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde should be thanked for the scheme that increases the respect of women.

Question: There was controversy over Arvind Sawant's statement. When asked questions about you, he said it is 'imported goods'. Why do you think this is an objectionable statement? answer: Arvind Sawant had contested elections in 2014 and 2019 in the name of Modi ji. All of us leaders used to go to campaign in his support. At that time I was a boy's sister. Now in 2024 they say I am an imported product. His thoughts and ideas are clearly visible from this statement. Sitting next to him, Mumbadevi MLA Amin Ali Patel was laughing.

I thought I had two options. The first is that I remain silent and this issue becomes a one night debate in the media. Then it may become an issue among the leaders, but being a self-respecting woman, I chose another path. We went to Nagpada police station and lodged an FIR under sections 79 and 356 (2) of BNS.

Our motive behind doing this was that the women who are watching and are in politics should understand that they do not need to remain silent. They should speak wherever they want. After 30 hours, Arvind Sawant apologized, but Sanjay Raut says that there is no need to apologize, so what is the official stand of Shiv Sena (UBT) and 'Mahavinash Aghadi', they should clarify.

Question: If we see Arvind Sawant's statement, he used the word imported. By this he was indicating that you are an outsider candidate, do you accept this? answer: Three generations of our family are from South Mumbai. My mother was brought up in my maternal home, Madanpura and Nagpada. My father is a Rajput from Gondal, my husband is a Marwari Jain Rajasthani and my mother is a Bohra Muslim. I couldn't be more Mumbaikar than this.

Aditya Thackeray who lives in Kalanagar and is contesting the election from Worli. However, we have no objection to this either. Then what objection can they have that the daughter of South Mumbai is contesting elections from South Mumbai. It is the job of the opposition to spread these rumours.

Question: You wanted to contest against Aditya Thackeray from Worli seat of South Mumbai, but you are contesting from Mumbadevi seat. Why couldn't you get a ticket from there? answer: I have worked on Worli seat for a long time, so I wanted a ticket from there too, but only the leadership of Mahayuti decides who should be given ticket from which seat.

The specialty of the Mahayuti alliance is that any decision is taken only after discussion. From there, best wishes to our candidate Milind Deora ji, he has done a lot of work as an MP in South Mumbai.

Question: Till a few you were in BJP. What was the reason for leaving BJP? answer: This seat was not in the account of BJP, this seat was in the account of Shinde ji's Shiv Sena. The leadership of Mahayuti decided that I should contest elections on this seat. If I fight, I will fight like the queen of Jhansi. The blessings of Mother Mumbadevi are with me and the blessings of the women here are also with me.

Question: Meaning you have no resentment against BJP? answer: Of course, I have no resentment towards BJP. Party leaders are also helping me in every way. If we combine BJP and Shiv Sena, it is our big family.

Question: Even though you are a candidate of Mahayuti alliance, but suddenly leaving BJP and joining Shiv Sena (Shinde) faction and becoming a candidate, don't you think it will set a wrong trend in politics? answer: There is no wrong trend. You move from one house to another in a family. Even then the family remains the same. The ideology is the same, the goal is the same, the Prime Minister is also the same. Gratitude and congratulations to our popular Prime Minister for the work he did for women.

On October 29, the last day of nomination, Shaina NC left BJP and joined Shiv Sena (Shinde faction). Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde gave him party membership.

Question: You are referring to women and their issues, according to the data of Association for Democratic Rights, BJP has the highest number of candidates against whom cases of crimes against women have been registered? answer: If any leader of any party makes wrong comments towards women, insults them and uses abusive words against them, then action should be taken. There is no thinking about this on party lines. If someone does or speaks wrongly to women, then strict action should be taken against him.

Question: Currently, Eknath Shinde is the CM in the Mahayuti coalition government. If Mahayuti gets majority this time too, will Shinde be the CM again or will it be from BJP? answer: I am a worker, Eknath Shinde ji has given me a chance. The entire party and common people know about the popularity of Eknath Shinde. This decision will be taken by the leadership and voters.

Question: Although there is a fight between two alliances in Maharashtra elections, there are a total of 6 big parties. Don't you think voters will get confused because of so many parties? answer: There will be no confusion. Voters know who asks for votes on the basis of community and who asks for votes on the basis of work. Those who practice appeasement politics seek votes on the basis of community.

Congress-BJP took turns winning on Mumbadevi Mumbadevi assembly seat of South Mumbai is named after the Adi Devi of Mumbai, Mumbadevi. Minority voters have a big role in this seat with 55% Muslim population. This seat was held alternately by Congress and BJP.

The first assembly elections were held on this seat in 1978, which was won by Mohanlal Parikh of Janata Party. After this, in 1980, Nanubhai Patel of BJP won this seat. In 1985, this seat went to Congress.

After this, BJP ruled from 1990 to 2004. Purohit won this seat four consecutive times. However, in 2009, political equations changed and Congress's Amin Patel ended BJP's long-standing dominance by winning this seat.

In 2014 and 2019 also, Congress's Amin Patel retained his victory on this seat. He defeated Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) candidate Pandurang Sakpal by 23,655 votes. Amin Patel got 58,952 votes.
