Cold is continuously increasing in the states of North India as well as in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Along with falling temperature, dense fog has also started. The Meteorological Department on Wednesday has issued an alert of dense fog in many districts of 8 states including MP-Rajasthan.
The maximum effect of fog was seen in Uttar Pradesh. Visibility reduced to zero in Kanpur and 50 meters in Lucknow. Visibility was recorded at 500 meters in Purnia in Bihar, Bathinda in Punjab, Sirsa in Haryana and Gwalior in MP.
The minimum temperature in Rajasthan also fell below 15 degrees Celsius. Sikar remained the coldest district in the country. The temperature here was recorded at 7.2 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, snowfall continues in Jammu and Kashmir. Snow was seen at many places here on Wednesday morning also.
The effect of cold in the states of South India is less than the states of North India. The meteorological department has issued a rain alert here. Apart from Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Lakshadweep, rain is also expected in Andaman-Nicobar, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on Wednesday. Hail is also expected in Assam and Meghalaya.
