Cab aggregators Ola and Uber have received notices from the government for charging different rates depending on the mobile operating system (Android and Apple). This notice has been issued by the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) today i.e. Thursday, 23 January.
Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said on social media that the Consumer Affairs Department has taken note of the issue and has instructed CCPA to investigate. Complainants had said that the fare is shown higher on some phone models while lower on others.
Ola and Uber have now been asked to clarify their fare fixing process and the reasons for charging different fares.

CCPA has sent this notice to cab aggregators following reports that the two companies charge different fares for the same service. When passengers book a cab for the same destination, a different fare is visible on Android and different on iPhone.

After these screenshots were shared on social media, we also checked the fare from MP Nagar, Bhopal to Rajabhoj Airport on Ola app on iPhone and Android devices. In this, the fare in Android was showing us Rs 321-365.
Whereas in iPhone this fare was Rs 305-347. That is, in many places there is more money in Android and in some places in iPhone. Experts say that this happens due to user behavior.
