Hyundai Motor India has launched cheaper variants of the micro SUV Exter with sunroof – S+ and S(O)+. The price of the S(O)+ variant has been kept at Rs 7.86 lakh and the price of the S+ variant has been kept at Rs 8.44 lakh.
With the introduction of the new variant, the sunroof feature has become cheaper by Rs 37,000 in the manual and Rs 46,000 in the AMT version. Its ex-showroom price in India is between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 10.43 lakh.
Both variants have a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. Hyundai has introduced the S+ variant with automatic transmission and the S(O)+ variant with manual transmission. According to Hyundai, all variants in the sub 4-metre micro SUV segment have been provided with 6 air bags. It competes with cars like Maruti Ignis, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Citroen C3 and Maruti F-10.
Over 40 advanced safety features Hyundai has provided more than 40 advanced safety features in the Exterior to set a benchmark in safety, 26 of which will be available in all variants. Many segment first safety features like TPMS (Highline) and burglar alarm are included. The car includes headlamp escort function, auto headlamps, child ISOFIX seat, rear defogger and rear parking camera. It also gets 60+ Blue Link connected features along with dual dash cam and home-to-car Alexa that supports Hinglish voice commands.
Segment first mobile connecting dual dash cam According to Hyundai, the Xter is the first car in the micro SUV segment to feature a smart electric sunroof with voice command and a dashcam with dual (front and rear) cameras. It also has a 2.31-inch LCD display that can be connected to a smartphone.
The dashcam also supports full HD video resolution. Users can take pictures with both the front and rear cameras. The dashcam offers different recording modes like Driving (Normal), Event (Safety) and Vacation (Time Lapse) for multiple recordings.
Home to Car Alexa feature with Hindi-English commands The Xter is the first car in the mini SUV segment to get Home to Car (H2C) Alexa with Hindi and English commands. Connected features inside the car are related to safety and security, remote services, location based services, vehicle diagnostics and voice assistance. The embedded voice commands work even without internet connectivity. These commands can also be in Hinglish.
Interior Design: 8.0-inch touchscreen with 60+ features The dashboard of the Exter is similar to the one found in the Grand i10 Nios and Aura. It gets an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with 60+ features including Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Hyundai's BlueLink connected car technology. This unit comes with in-built navigation. It can be customized in 10 local and two global languages.
The screen digital cluster will share details like drive statistics, parking distance, open door, sunroof open as well as seatbelt reminder display for all seats. The interior of the car is stylish and quite spacious. The seats are covered with semi-leatherette upholstery with 'Exter' branding to give the interior a sporty feel.
Exterior Design: H-shaped LED daytime running lights Talking about the design elements of the car, its front has H-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs), which are connected by a thin black strip. The company has given a new grill with a unique design in the car. LED projector headlamps are available on it. These projector headlamps are covered in two square shaped cases.
The front face is completed with skid plates and 'EXTER' badges. Diamond-cut alloy wheels fitted in blacked-out wheel arches give the car a sporty look. If we look at the side profile, the car gets a floating roof design, bridge-type roof rails and side body cladding. Features like H-shaped LED tail lamps and funky alloy wheels have also been provided in it. Exter will be available in 6 single and three dual tone colors.
Performance: E20 fuel ready petrol engine There are two engine options to power the Hyundai Xterra. The first is a 1.2 liter 4 cylinder naturally aspirated Kappa petrol engine, which will be E20 fuel ready. It generates 82bhp of power and 113nm of peak torque. This engine is given in Hyundai's Grand i10 Neos, i20 and Aura.
This engine is available with the option of 5-speed manual transmission (5MT) and Smart AMT (Automated Manual Transmission). The second is a 1.2 liter 4 cylinder bi-fuel Kappa petrol CNG engine, which is tuned with a 5-speed manual transmission. The company claims that the car gives a mileage of 19.2 kmpl in petrol and 27.1 kmpkg in CNG.
