Maruti Suzuki India Limited will present the production model of its first electric car EVX at the India Mobility Expo 2025 to be held from January 17 next year. The company will start its production at the Gujarat plant by the end of this year. The company claims that the car will run up to 550 kilometers on full charge. The price of Maruti EVX electric SUV can start from Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).

Maruti first showcased the concept version of the EVX at the 2023 Auto Expo. After this, the developed version of this concept was shown at the Japan Mobility Expo 2023. It will compete with the Tata Curve EV, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV. Apart from this, it can also be chosen as a premium electric car from Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400 EV.

Electric SUV has been spotted during testing
Recently, this electric car has been seen several times during testing. Many design elements of the Japan Mobility Expo concept version have been seen in it. It will have a closed-off grill with Y-shaped LED DRL, flush-type door handles and connected tail lights. The cabin of the EVX will have a futuristic design, which will have dual integrated screens like new cars.

Driving range up to 550km on full charge
For performance, the eVX will be equipped with a 60KWh battery pack and an electric motor. The company claims that this car will give a driving range of up to 550km on a single full charge. However, a smaller battery pack variant with a range of around 400 km can also be found in this production model. At the same time, the power figures have not been revealed yet.

Electric cars are our priority: Bhargava
After the recent 43rd AGM of Maruti Suzuki, the company's chairman RC Bhargava said, 'Maruti Suzuki's line-up will have 6 electric cars by the year 2030, although we do not intend to convert our entire range of cars to electric.'

The country needs low-cost and small cars
He said that electric cars are a priority for Maruti Suzuki and the first car in the segment will go into production in a few months. Bhargava said, 'Any decrease in demand for small cars will not change the strategy in this direction. Low-cost and small cars are the need of our country.'

Strengthening the sales service network in rural areas
He said, “We believe that low-cost small cars are necessary for our economic and social conditions. The temporary decline in demand will not change our strategy. We are confident that the rural market will revive and many scooter riders will want to upgrade to small cars. We are strengthening the sales service network in rural areas.”
