The Indian team will not go to Pakistan for next year's Champions Trophy cricket tournament. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently sent a letter to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) citing security concerns behind its decision. The board has expressed its desire to play all its matches in Dubai.
According to the Indian Express report, a source related to the matter said, this is our decision. We have written a letter to PCB asking them to hold our matches in Dubai.
The Champions Trophy will be played from February 19 to March 9 next year as per the draft schedule. Matches of this event can be held in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi.
Last year Pakistan came to India to play ODI World Cup Pakistan team came to India last year to play the ODI World Cup. Then the match between India and Pakistan was played in Ahmedabad on 14 October. The Indian team won this match by 7 wickets.
Captain Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer had scored fifties. Jasprit Bumrah became the player of the match. He took 2 wickets for 19 runs.
India is not going to Pakistan due to terrorist attack in Mumbai The Indian team has not toured Pakistan since 2007–08. After the terrorist attacks on Mumbai in 2008, the Indian government refused to play cricket in Pakistan. Since then both the teams play only in ICC and ACC tournaments. Since 2013, both the teams have played 13 ODIs and 8 T20 matches at neutral venues.
Pakistan gets hosting of Champions Trophy 2025 The hosting of Champions Trophy 2025 has been given to Pakistan. PCB has submitted the draft of the venue and schedule of the tournament to ICC. The tournament is to be played in February-March next year. According to the draft, India has been placed in Group A along with Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand. Group B includes Australia, South Africa, England and Afghanistan. According to the schedule, India's three matches are to be held on 20 February (from Bangladesh), 23 February (from Pakistan) and 2 March (from New Zealand). All India matches can be played in Lahore.
Asia Cup had to be held in Sri Lanka Last year also Pakistan had got the hosting of Asia Cup. Even then, when India did not go there, this tournament was held on 'hybrid model'. The matches against India were held in Sri Lanka. In the final match held in Colombo, the Indian team won the championship by defeating Sri Lanka by 10 wickets.
