Tanush plays domestic cricket for Mumbai.
Mumbai spin-bowling all-rounder Tanush Kotian has been included in the squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. According to PTI, Kotian will leave for Australia on Tuesday. Tanush will join the team for the fourth (Melbourne) Test on 26 December.
The 26-year-old Kotian is currently playing the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Mumbai in Ahmedabad. He will replace the recently retired Ravichandran Ashwin in the team. Kotian was previously part of the India A team that toured Australia ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series.

In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he scored 39 runs against Hyderabad on Monday. Also took 2 wickets. While playing for India-A, he scored 44 runs against Australia-A in Melbourne. According to earlier reports, spinner Akshar Patel was going to be a part of the team in place of Ashwin.
Remained unsold in IPL auction Tanush did not find any buyer in the mega auction of Indian Premier League 2025. In 2024, Kotian made his IPL debut playing for Rajasthan Royals. However, he got a chance to play only one match, in which he scored 24 runs. He did not bowl in this match.

Tanush will replace Ravichandran Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin retired from international cricket on December 18, the last day of the Gabba Test. He played 287 matches including all three formats and took 765 wickets. Ashwin is India's second highest wicket taker bowler. Ahead of him is only Anil Kumble, who has taken 953 wickets.
