Rohit will come for Ranji practice session: Can play tournament after 10 years; Gill likely to play from Punjab

Indian team captain Rohit Sharma has informed the Mumbai team management that he will join the Ranji team's practice session on Tuesday. This session is to be held on the center wicket of Wankhede Stadium. This decision has indicated Rohit's entry into the domestic first class tournament. However, at present Rohit has not confirmed from the Mumbai team management about his playing in Ranji. These days Rohit is practicing for the Champions Trophy in Bandra. Whereas Shubman Gill can be seen playing for Punjab. Last played Ranji in 2015 Rohit last played for Mumbai in 2015. Mumbai has to play its next league round match of the current Ranji season against Jammu and Kashmir from January 23.

Gautam Gambhir and Sunil Gavaskar advised senior players to play Ranji After losing first to New Zealand and then in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Team India coach Gautam Gambhir had insisted on playing domestic cricket for India's senior players.

Former captain Sunil Gavaskar and former coach Ravi Shastri have also been advising this. Gavaskar and former cricketer Harbhajan Singh had said that before the team selection for England tour, players should play in Ranji and the selection committee should ensure that they play in the county.
