D Gukesh, who became the world champion of chess at the age of 18, gave an exclusive interview to Dainik Global News Daily. He said, Vishwanathan Anand is the biggest inspiration of his life. I will try to take his legacy forward.
For Global News Daily, Vaudevan RR had a special conversation with Gukesh in Singapore. Gukesh said for the youth, enjoy your game openly. I too have enjoyed chess since childhood. I will also give the message to the new generation to enjoy the game.
Question: How did you control your emotions after becoming champion? Gukesh: I didn't think the match would end so quickly. I was playing for a draw, then I saw that Liren had made a blunder. I started seeing victory and that's when I got super-excited.
Question: Who made the biggest contribution to the success? Gukesh: Parents supported me a lot. The team also worked very hard to get me to this place and make me a champion. I am thankful to both the parents and the supporting team.
As soon as Gukesh received the trophy, he handed it over to his father and mother. Mother kissed his trophy.
Question: Who is your biggest inspiration? Gukesh: Vishy sir (Viswanathan Anand) is the biggest inspiration for me. I will continue to enjoy my game in future also. I will try my best to take Vishy sir's legacy to new heights.
Question: You praised Ding Liren a lot, what would you like to say about him? Gukesh: I was also very inspired by his game. After losing the 11th game, he bounced back with a win in the 12th game. Despite the defeat, his fighting spirit motivated me a lot.
Gukesh said that he was inspired by Liren, but it was his own blunders that made him the champion.
Question: After becoming the Youngest World Champion, what message would you like to give to young chess players? Gukesh: I always thought about enjoying chess. I would just like to say this for the new generation, enjoy your game completely.
Gukesh handed over the trophy to his parents The trophy presentation of the World Chess Championship took place on Friday. As soon as Gukesh took the trophy, he handed it over to his parents. Gukesh gave the trophy to his father Dr Rajeevankant, who gave the trophy to his wife Padma. Mother saw the trophy and kissed it.

Gukesh became the 18th world champion by defeating Liren Gukesh won the final of the World Chess Championship on Thursday. He defeated defending champion Ding Liren of China in the 14th game and captured the title with a score of 7.5-6.5. Gukesh became the 18th and youngest world champion of chess.
