Haryana-Rajasthan won in the pre-quarters of Vijay Hazare Trophy: Shami took 3 wickets, yet Bengal lost; Tamil Nadu lost a close match

Mohammed Shami played 3 matches for Bengal in Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Two pre-quarterfinal matches were played in Vijay Hazare Trophy on Thursday. Both matches took place in Vadodara, with Rajasthan defeating Tamil Nadu and Haryana defeating Bengal. Mohammed Shami took 3 wickets from Bengal, despite this the team had to face a big defeat of 72 runs.

The quarter final matches will be played on 11 and 12 January. Rajasthan will face Vidarbha and Haryana will face Gujarat. In the remaining 2 quarter-finals, Maharashtra will face Punjab and Karnataka will face Baroda.

Pre Quarter Final 1: Haryana vs Bengal Bengal won the toss and chose bowling at Moti Bagh Stadium. The openers from Haryana could not convert a good start into a big score. Parth Vats and Nishant Sindhu scored fifties. In the end, Rahul Tewatia scored 29 runs and Sumit Kumar scored 41 runs, taking the score to 298 runs for 9 wickets.

Shami bowled 10 overs for Bengal and took 3 wickets for 61 runs. Mukesh Kumar got 2 successes. Sayan Ghosh, Pradipta Pramanik, Kaushik Maiti and Karan Lal got 1 wicket each.

Pre Quarter Final 2: Tamil Nadu vs Rajasthan Tamil Nadu won the toss and chose bowling at the Kotambi Stadium. Rajasthan lost the first wicket in the 10th over, Sachin Yadav was out after scoring 4 runs in 27 balls. From here Abhijeet Tomar scored 111 runs and captain Mahipal Lomror scored 60 runs. Karthik Sharma scored 35 runs and the score reached near 250.

Despite a good start, Rajasthan team could not score big. The team was reduced to 267 runs in 47.3 overs. Varun Chakraborty took 5 wickets from Tamil Nadu. Sandeep Warrier and Sai Kishore got 2 wickets each, while Trilok Nag got one success.

Abhijeet Tomar hit 12 fours and 4 sixes.

Tamil Nadu scattered in the last over Tamil Nadu got an opening partnership of 60 runs. Tushar Raheja was out in the 7th over after scoring 11 runs, after which Bupati Kumra could not even open the account. Baba Inderjit then along with Narayan Jagadeesan took the score beyond 100 runs. Jagadeesan was out after scoring 65 runs, after him Indrajeet also returned to the pavilion after scoring 37 runs.

Chakraborty fought back by scoring 18 runs, but the team was all out for 248 runs in the 48th over and Haryana won the match by 19 runs.

Abhijeet Tomar Player of the Match Abhijeet Tomar, who scored a century for Rajasthan, was the player of the match in the second pre-quarterfinal. He played an inning of 111 runs. In the first match, Parth Vats got the Player of the Match award. Along with scoring a fifty, he also took 3 wickets.
