Government will give Khel Ratna to Manu after the controversy: Report claims – Name was not in the list earlier; Bhakar had won double medal in Paris

The Sports Ministry has decided to give Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award to shooter Manu Bhakar. According to the information received, the Ministry is preparing to give Khel Ratna to Manu with executive power (privilege).

A source told TOI: 'The names have not been decided yet and the awards may be revealed in a week. The Sports Minister will take a decision on this in a day or two. There is every possibility of Manu's name being in the final list.

A day earlier, Manu Bhaker's father Ramkishan Bhaker had said that Manu has been ignored for the Khel Ratna Award. After his statement, the nomination list of National Sports Award came into controversy. Earlier Manu Bhaker's name was not in this list.
