Gavaskar reminded Kohli of Sachin's innings: Said- remember your hero; Tendulkar had scored 241 runs without playing cover drive.

Former Indian player Sunil Gavaskar has asked Virat Kohli to remember Sachin's inning of 241* runs played in Sydney. Kohli was out while playing a cover drive after scoring 3 runs on the third day of the Gabba Test.

A similar incident was happening with Sachin in the 2003-04 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. After which he scored 241 runs against the Kangaroos in the Sydney Test without playing a cover drive and continuously released the ball outside the off stump.

In the rain-affected third day of the Gabba Test, Australian pacer Hazlewood got Kohli caught by wicketkeeper Carey. India are in trouble till stumps on Monday. The team could score only 51 runs after losing 4 wickets.

Virat Kohli was out while playing a cover drive in the third test.

Need to see your hero's innings In the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, Kohli has so far played innings of 5,100*, 7, 11, and 3 runs. Gavaskar said, he (Kohli) needs to see his hero Sachin Tendulkar's innings in Sydney. Sachin had scored 241 runs in that match by playing 436 balls. Which included 33 fours. Kohli is also going through the same phase as Tendulkar was continuously getting out caught behind in 2003-04.

Tendulkar batted for more than 10 hours In that Test in Sydney, Sachin Tendulkar batted marathon for more than 10 hours. Gavaskar told Star Sports, Kohli also needs to show patience and control like Sachin's innings. Sachin did not play any shot except at third man in the off side. Tendulkar scored all his runs on the leg side.

Gavaskar further said, Kohli has been out behind the wicket 3 times in this tour. He needs to play defensively on all balls outside the off stump and use his bottom hand to score runs. He has an excellent flick shot through which he can score runs on the other side of the ground.
