The third day of the second match of Australia's Sri Lanka tour was named after the rain. On Friday, Sri Lanka scored 136 runs for 5 wickets in the first innings till lunch. Dinesh Chandimal is unbeaten scoring 63 and Kusal Mendis 10 runs. This is the 31st Test fifty of Chandimal.

Gaul started raining before the lunch break ended. Due to this, the game of the day had to be canceled. Currently, the Sri Lankan team is 518 runs behind Australia. Sri Lanka started playing with a score of 44/3 in the morning.

Sri Lanka got the first shock as Kamindu Mendis and the second as Dhananjay de Silva. Mendis was dismissed for 15 and D Silva 22 runs. Mitchell Starc and Matthew Kuhneman took two wickets each for Australia. Nathan Lion has got one wicket.

On Thursday, Australia declared the first innings on a score of 654/6. Travis Head scored a double century for Australia. Steve Smith and Josh English scored a century.
