Devjit Saikia of Assam Cricket Association replaced Jay Shah. Shah is now the chairman of ICC.
Devjit Saikia has become the Secretary of BCCI, while Prabhtej Singh Bhatia has been elected as the Treasurer. Both were elected unopposed in the Special General Meeting (SGM) of BCCI on Sunday. Saikia and Bhatia had filed nominations last week. Apart from him, no one else filled the nomination form.
Saikia had taken over from former secretary Jai Shah in December last month. He was made the interim secretary. Jay Shah has been made the Chairman of ICC, due to which he left the post of BCCI Secretary.
IPL-2025 will start from March 23: Rajeev Shukla After the meeting, BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla said- 'This SGM had only one agenda, the election of BCCI Secretary.' He told that IPL-2025 will start from March 23.
Devjit Saikia has been the Joint Secretary of BCCI from 2019 to 2024.
Saikia is part of Assam Cricket Association Devjit Saikia was made the interim secretary of BCCI on 6 December itself. He is part of Assam Cricket Association. He replaced Jai Shah. Earlier there were reports that Arun Jaitley's son Rohan Jaitley would become the secretary, but last month itself, the name of Joint Secretary Saikia came forward.
On the other hand, Bhatia is part of Chhattisgarh Cricket Association. He will take over as treasurer in place of Ashish Shelar. Ashish became a part of the Maharashtra government and as per the rules, central and state government ministers cannot become a part of the BCCI.
Devjit Saikia had attended the ICC meeting in Dubai last month as a BCCI representative.
Shah honored at SGM Releasing the results, election officer AK Jothi said, 'Elections for the two posts of office-bearers, secretary and treasurer, were held unopposed and hence there was no need for voting.' Shah was honored by BCCI on Saturday. He was also welcomed in SGM.

Bumrah may be out of Champions Trophy group stage
India's star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah may be out of the group stage of the ICC Champions Trophy to be held next month. According to Indian Express, Bumrah has swelling in his back. For this he has been asked to report to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. His recovery will be monitored here.
