The two-year M.Ed (Master of Education) course from the new Academic Session 2026-27 will be changed to one year. The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has taken this decision.
After the recent NCTE's decision, B.Ed. was also announced to be one year old. This decision has been taken under the National Education Policy 2020.
Changes in B.Ed course after 10 years
By the year 2014, the B.Ed course was of one year, which will now be resumed. At the same time, the M.Ed course which is two years old will be one year old from the year 2026.
Who will be able to take admission
According to NCTE Chairman Pankaj Arora, candidates who do one -year B.Ed course, two -year -old teacher education courses and four -year -old integrated candidates can take admission in M.Ed.
Application being sought for M.Ed course syllabus
M.Ed will now be one year old. According to reports, NCTE is preparing a new syllabus for this and the institutes have been sought for this.
This course will start from 2026-27. The process of admission in this is not yet decided. Currently, an admission in the four -year integrated teacher education course is done through the entrance exam. This exam conducts National Testing Agency (NTA)
New syllabus will be created according to the new education policy
Candidates who have done post graduation and four -year integrated teacher education can take admission in one year B.Ed course. A committee has also been formed by NCTE to prepare Curriculum framework for one -year B.Ed course. The syllabus of the new course will be prepared according to the new education policy.
