1. India re-elected to UN Peacekeeping Commission
On 28 November, India has been re-elected as a member of the United Nations Peacekeeping Commission for 2025-2026. India's tenure in the Commission was ending on December 31. India has been contributing to this Commission as a member for 19 consecutive years.
India's Permanent Mission to the United Nations (@IndiaUNNewYork) posted on social media platform 'X' on November 28 and wrote, 'India has been re-elected to the United Nations Peacekeeping Commission (PBC) for 2025-2026.'
2. Army Chief launches online digital platform 'Eklavya'
Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on November 29 launched 'Eklavya', an online digital platform for the Indian Army. This will help in the training of officers. This initiative aligns with the Indian Army's vision of 'Parivartan ka Decade of Transformation'. The Eklavya software platform has been developed at zero cost by 'Bhaskaracharya National Institute of Space Applications and Geoinformatics (BISAG-N), Gandhinagar'. On this platform, student officers can register for multiple courses simultaneously.
'Eklavya' is in line with the Indian Army's theme for 2024, 'Year of Technology Absorption'.

Indian Navy has announced recruitment for the posts of Trade Apprentice in Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam. Candidates will have to apply offline for this vacancy.
The written examination for this recruitment will be conducted on 28 February 2025. The result of the examination will be declared on March 4, 2025.

1. Bill passed to ban children's social media in Australia
In Australia, the bill to ban social media for children under 16 years of age was passed by the Parliament. Both the party and the opposition supported this bill. Australia is the first country in the world to pass such a bill.
According to the bill, if platforms like Xx, TikTok, Facebook and Instagram fail to prevent children from having accounts, they can be fined up to Rs 275 crore ($32.5 million). There will be no relaxation for parental consent or pre-existing accounts. Once the law is enacted, platforms will have one year to work out how to implement the ban.
2. 151 complaints of sexual harassment in JNU since 2017
Since 2017, 151 cases of sexual harassment have been registered in the Internal Complaints Committee of JNU. This data has surfaced in an RTI application.
In 2017 itself, Internal Complaints Committee came into existence in place of Gender Sensitization Committee Against Harassment. The university claims that 98% of the complaints have been resolved and currently only 3 complaints are being investigated.
3. 72% companies are giving jobs to freshers
The demand for freshers in private jobs has increased between July to November 2024. During January to June 2024, this demand has increased by 4% compared to the last 6 months and has now reached 72%.
According to the Career Outlook Report, 2024 by edtech platform 'Teamlease', job roles like full stack developer, data analyst, SEO executive, digital sales associate and UI/UX designer are most in demand.
