1. Central government doubled the fine on farmers burning stubble
On November 7, the central government doubled the fine on farmers who burn stubble. Now, for burning stubble, farmers with less than 2 acres of land will have to pay a fine of Rs 5,000, those with 2 to 5 acres of land will have to pay Rs 10,000 and those with more than 5 acres of land will have to pay a fine of Rs 30,000.

1. Recruitment rules cannot be changed during the recruitment process – SC
On November 7, the Supreme Court gave an important decision related to government recruitments. The court said that the recruitment rules cannot be changed after the start of any recruitment process.
There was a discussion in the court whether the recruitment agency can change the rules of recruitment if necessary. A bench of 5 judges including CJI Chandrachud said that this cannot be done at all unless this is mentioned in the process.
2. UPSC Engineering Services Exam timetable released UPSC has released the timetable for Engineering Services Exam. Prelims exam will be conducted on 8 June 2025. Paper 1 will be held from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, while Paper 2 will be held from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The application link for this recruitment is open till 22nd November.
