JEE Mains 2025 will be held in two sessions: Session 1 exam will be held from January 22 to 31; Expert advice- Better to sit in both the sessions

National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the dates for JEE Mains 2025 on October 28. This year also JEE Mains exam will be held in two phases. The first phase exam will be held from 22 to 31 January 2025 and the second phase exam will be held in April 2025.

It is beneficial to appear for exams in both sessions – Expert

Most of the students are worried about whether they should appear for JEE Mains in both the sessions or just one. For this, we talked to Hrishikesh Sharma, Director of Allen Career Institute, Bhopal and Shubham Roy, Director of NEET IIT Institute. Both experts say the same thing,

JEE Mains exam is conducted in two sessions so that if students are not able to perform well in one session, they can try again in the second session.

According to experts, there are 3 big benefits of giving exams to students in both the sessions-

1. Opportunity for students to increase their score: NTA includes the score of the session in which more marks are obtained in the final result. In such a situation, giving exam in both the sessions gives a chance to improve the final rank.

2. Pre-exam experience for students doing 12th: Hrishikesh Sharma says that children doing 12th should also appear in the exam in both the sessions. After their preboard exam, there is the first session of JEE Mains, then the board exam, then the second session of JEE Mains exam. If selected, JEE Advanced exam takes place. All these exams are conducted one after the other, so if preparation is good then exams should be given in both the sessions.

According to Shubham, even if the 11th class course of the children studying in 12th is not well prepared, they should still give the exam of the first session. This gives a pre-experience of the exam and after completing the course, you can increase your score in the second session.

This time there will be chances to score more in Chemistry, syllabus will be balanced.

Shubham Roy says, 'One should study only after looking at the syllabus carefully. This time 6 units have been completely removed from Chemistry. There are 5 units from which many chapters have been removed. Therefore, this time it will be easy to get more marks in Chemistry.

Hrishikesh says, 'After the irregularities in the previous NEET-UG exam, this time people are keeping a close eye on JEE. Therefore, it is expected that this time the paper will be more balanced as per the syllabus.

'This time NTA has removed the option of 25 questions out of 30 in one paper and kept 25 compulsory questions. Therefore the score may remain low, however children do not need to panic, good preparation of 70 to 75% syllabus will result in a good percentile.

In 2024 also, JEE Mains exam was conducted in two sessions – January and April. The January session exam was held from 24 to 31 January and the April session exam was held between 6 to 12 April. Last year, the registration started from November 1 and continued for more than a month, however, this time also sufficient time has been given.

The total number of registered candidates in the January session of JEE Mains 2024 was more than 12 lakh. Of these, 11.7 lakh had given the exam. Apart from JEE Mains, NTA has also announced the dates of NEET UG and CUET.
