High Court's ban on Rajasthan SI recruitment exam continues: 80 people have been arrested, 40 trainee inspectors suspended, the exam was made a dummy candidate.

The High Court has maintained the stay on the Sub-Inspector Recruitment Exam held in Rajasthan in 2021. Hearing in this matter took place on Thursday. Regarding this, the state government of Bharatiya Janata Party said that the exam cannot be canceled in haste. Additional Advocate General Vigyan Shah said that investigation is being done on the allegations of paper leak.

A single judge bench of Justice Sameer Jain ruled that every action taken for the recruitment of sub-inspectors will be considered contempt of court. Now the next hearing in this case will be on February 10. The court asked the state government to present the details of the meetings of the ministerial committee regarding cancellation of the exam in the next hearing.

Stay was imposed in November 2024

Actually, the Sub-Inspector Recruitment Exam was held in September 2021 and 859 vacancies were to be filled through it. After this there was controversy regarding this. Many candidates made allegations of paper leak and other irregularities.

Rajasthan High Court had banned the recruitments done through this exam on 18 November 2024. The court ordered that training of candidates selected in the exam should be stopped, passing out parade should not be held and trainee sub-inspectors should not be posted in the field.

80 arrests have been made so far

Many FIRs have been registered regarding SI Recruitment Exam and till now around 80 people have been arrested. Of these, 50 are trainee sub-inspectors and 2 are members of Rajasthan Public Service Commission i.e. RPSC.

This matter came before the court through the writ petition of Kailash Chandra and 24 others. In this petition it was said that due to paper leak, eligible candidates have not been selected in the exam. Some petitioners got up to 300, 310 marks out of 400. Whereas the marks of the last selected candidate in the merit list were 326.

The petitioners said that ineligible candidates have been selected through irregularities in the examination. After this, the State Police Headquarters and Advocate General had suggested to cancel the exam.

At the same time, the state government believes that the exam cannot be canceled until the investigation is completed. Meanwhile, anger among the public is increasing and the investigation by Rajasthan's Special Operations Group (SOG) is going on. Along with this, a 6-member ministerial committee has also been formed under the chairmanship of Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogram Patel on October 1, 2024.
