INAUGURATION

1. Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister of Spain inaugurated 'Tata Aircraft Complex' in Gujarat: PM Narendra Modi and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez inaugurated the Tata Aircraft Complex at the Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) campus on October 28. TASL is located in Vadodara, Gujarat. It has been set up to manufacture C-295 aircraft.

The two leaders jointly inaugurated the Tata Advanced Systems Complex before heading to the historic Lakshmi Vilas Palace for a bilateral meeting.

This complex has been built by Tata Advanced Systems for the manufacturing of C-295 aircraft. A total of 56 aircraft are to be manufactured under the C-295 project. Out of these, 16 aircraft are being delivered by the Spanish aerospace company Airbus. After this, the remaining 40 aircraft are to be manufactured in India. The responsibility of manufacturing these 40 aircraft in India rests with Tata Advanced Systems Limited. This complex is the first private sector final assembly line for military aircraft in India. This will include manufacturing, assembly and testing of their parts. Besides, maintenance facilities for the aircraft will also be provided. Apart from Tata, major public sector units of the defense sector like Bharat Electronics and Bharat Dynamics as well as private micro, small and medium enterprises will contribute to this programme. PM Modi laid the foundation stone of the Vadodara final assembly line in October 2022. Earlier, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez arrived in India on Monday, October 28. He met PM Narendra Modi to boost bilateral relations. Had delegation level talks with Modi.

2. Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi inaugurates 'Swavalamban 2024' at Bharat Mandapam: On October 28, Naval Chief Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi inaugurated 'Swavalamban 2024'. It is being organized on 28 and 29 October at Bharat Mandapam, Delhi.

'Swavalamban 2024' is the third phase of the seminar of the Indian Navy.

'Swavalamban 2024' aims to boost the indigenization efforts of the Navy. It showcases indigenous equipment made with India's specific technology, which the Indian Navy can use in the coming days. The program will include Air and Surface Surveillance, Autonomous systems in surface, aerial and underwater domains and AI and quantum technology are being showcased. 3. Global Finance Magazine named SBI as India's best bank for 2024: On October 27, Global Finance named State Bank of India i.e. SBI as the Best Bank of India for 2024. The magazine recognized SBI as the Best Bank of 2024 at its 31st annual Best Bank Awards ceremony in Washington.

SBI Chairman C.S. Setty received this award.

Earlier on August 6, the government announced the appointment of Setty as the new chairman of SBI for a period of three years. He had replaced Chairman Dinesh Kumar Khara. The proposal for appointment was made by the Financial Services Institution Bureau (FSIB). which has been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). Apart from Setty, the government appointed Rana Ashutosh Kumar Singh to take charge as Managing Director (MD) at SBI. and his assistants are 4 MDs.

4. Afghanistan A beats Sri Lanka A to win 2024 Emerging Asia Cup: Afghanistan A men's cricket team defeated Sri Lanka A team by seven wickets to win the sixth ACC Men's T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024.

The sixth ACC Men's Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024 final was played on October 27, 2024 in Al Almerat, Oman.
