Imran gave 8 reasons behind choosing Anthropology…

There was no optional subject like Journalism in BPSC. It had to be chosen separately from the mainstream subjects of Social Science so that it would help in generating unique points in Mains. The point of view of the one choosing a subject different from the mainstream would be unique. If there is any consistent, If one devotes 4-5 hours to the subject every day, then this subject can be easily covered in two to three months. For Civil Servants It is important to understand different points of views. This skill can be developed through Anthropology. Taboo concepts like polygamy can be easily understood. Anthropology is considered a scoring subject in Civil Services Examination. It is a static subject i.e. there are not many current happenings in it. For example, if someone is taking Political Science then something or the other keeps happening in it every day due to which the aspirants have to stay updated. But there are very few happenings in Anthropology, which makes it easy to stay updated.
