Vikrant Massey's decision to take a break from acting went viral on social media, especially after his recent films achieved tremendous success. However, what his fans thought was a retirement was actually a long break, as Vikrant himself later said.
Now, at the Times Network India Economic Conclave, the actor spoke more openly about the reasons behind his decision. Citing family reasons, he said that he wants to spend more time with his family, especially now that he is a new parent.
He said at the event, 'I have finally got the life I always wanted, so now is the time to live it. I want to take a break, because in the end everything is temporary, so I am doing just one film next year.
Citing social media also as a reason, the actor said, 'Social media pressure was also a reason behind sharing that break, which I believe. I'm a public person, and a bit of an introvert. If someone asks me, I will think about choosing it, whenever I feel like sharing something.
He further said, 'Then I had a son, I could not spend quality time with him and my wife. All this was happening simultaneously. So I wrote in that Instagram post that as an actor, son, father and husband, now is the time for me to take charge of myself again. And when I look at my professional life, I think, 'What more could I have done so far?' Just want to improve myself as an artist.
Talking about the Instagram post, Vikrant said, 'As written in that post, the last few years have been very special for me. Perhaps I look back on the past year with complete humility and gratitude. Got more than what I wanted. As an artist, I have worked professionally for 21 years. But after the 12th spread it was really special. I posted it at midnight because I couldn't sleep.
Let us tell you, on December 2, Vikrant announced by posting a post on Instagram that he is taking a break from acting. He wrote in his post- 'The few years and beyond have been very good. I thank everyone. But as I move forward, I realize that now is the time for me to take charge of myself again. As a husband, father and son. And also as an actor. So in the coming 2025, we will meet for the last time. Last 2 films and memories of many years. Thanks again. Everything and everything in between. Forever indebted.
Vikrant Massey is currently working on two films – 'Yaar Jigri' and 'Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan'. In 2023, he won the Actor of the Year trophy for Vidu Vinod Chopra's '12th Fall'.
