He had gone out for a drive with his three friends, but his drunk friend lost control of the speeding car and the car crashed into the divider. According to reports, Jalaj had invited his friends to his Gurugram home to play video games on the night of 22 November. After playing video games for some time, 18-year-old Jalaj went out for a drive with his friends Sahil Mendha (18), Sarth Kaushik (18) and Jaden Jimmy (18).
His friend kept drinking for a long time and then everyone started returning home. Sahil who was driving the car was drunk and driving at high speed. His car lost control while suddenly changing direction on the Western Express Highway near Vile Parle and hit the car divider.
After the collision, Sahil and Jaden, sitting in the front seat, suffered minor injuries, while Jalaj and Sarth, sitting at the rear, were seriously injured. Both were taken to the hospital located in Jogeshwari East, but when Jalaj's condition became critical, he was shifted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. His other friend Sarth also died in this accident.

After the accident, Jaden Jimmy, who was present in the car, gave a statement in the complaint against Sahil who was driving the car. He told that even before Jalaj came home, Sahil had already consumed alcohol at his friend's house. He reached Jalaj's house at 11 pm on 22 November. After playing video games for some time, he went out for a drive at 3:30 in the night. Initially Jaden was driving the car, but later Sahil started driving himself. He reached Bandra at around 4.10 pm.
