Censor Board asked to change the name of Jaswant Khalda
The family had approved the script 4 years ago
Last year, when the release of this film was stopped, Jaswant Singh Khalda's wife Paramjit Kaur Khalda had condemned the Censor Board. She said the film was a true biopic of her husband's life, made with the consent of his family, and should be released without any cuts.
Paramjit Kaur Khalda had also told that about 4 years ago, her family had given permission to director Honey Trehan to make the film only after reading the script of this film. He also stressed that Diljit Dosanjh was selected to play the role of Jaswant Singh Khalda and his family is completely satisfied with the selection.

Based on the story of fake encounter in the dark times of Punjab
Jaswant Singh Khalda was a courageous and dedicated human rights activist. Who raised his voice against the atrocities and human rights violations against Sikhs in Punjab during the 1980s and 1990s.
He had revealed that during that period thousands of Sikh youth were detained illegally and killed in fake encounters. Jaswant had also made a big disclosure that the bodies of the Sikh youth killed in the encounter were cremated secretly.
Khalda himself went to the cremation grounds
Khalda had exposed these disappearances and murders being carried out by the Punjab Police and administration. At that time, he visited the cremation grounds of Amritsar and gathered information that more than 6,000 bodies were secretly cremated there. He had also shared this information on international forums, raising many questions on India's human rights record.
Family's allegation – fought for justice by sacrificing life
Khalda had to pay the price of fighting for the rights of Sikhs with his life. The family alleges that on September 6, 1995, the police kidnapped Khalda from his house. After this he was tortured and murdered in police custody.
The police did not even register an FIR in this case. After which, Jaswant's wife petitioned the Supreme Court and the court ordered the CBI to investigate.
CBI did its own investigation, 6 police officers were found guilty
According to CBI investigation, Khalda was washing the car outside his house on September 6, 1995. During this time some people came and took him away with them. Later it was revealed that those people were police officers.
About one and a half months later, on 27 October, the body of Jaswant Singh Khalda was found in the Sutlej river. After investigation, the court found 6 Punjab Police officers guilty and sentenced them to 7 years imprisonment. The High Court had commuted the sentence of 4 out of 6 accused to life imprisonment.
