Pankaj Tripathi's wife Mridula was the only earner in her family when Pankaj came to Mumbai and was struggling to get work in the film industry. The married couple had come to Mumbai, where Mridula worked as a teacher.
Pankaj has also mentioned in many interviews that he got a lot of support from his wife in the initial days of his career. Because of this he had to work less hard than other strugglers.
Mridula said- We never had to remain hungry
In the interview with Conversation with Atul, Mridula shared many stories of her life. Mridula said, 'When we shifted to Mumbai, we had no savings. I think we will hardly have Rs 42 thousand. This was not enough even for the fixed capital of the house. But somehow we managed to deal with it.
We never went through situations like sleeping on the footpath or going hungry for days. We were very settled. Both of us (Mridula and Pankaj Tripathi) also had an agreement that right now I am working and running the house. Later, when he (Pankaj) starts earning, I will stop working. It was good for us.
Pankaj got recognition from the film Gangs of Wasseypur.
Even after doing many films, Pankaj Tripathi did not get the recognition that he got from the film Gangs of Wasseypur. His role in this film was highly appreciated. After this, Mirzapur, released on OTT, made his character of Kaalin Bhaiya more memorable.
Love happened in the wedding ceremony
17 year old Pankaj fell in love with Mridula at a wedding ceremony. The problem in taking this love story to marriage was that Pankaj's sister was married to Mridula's brother, and according to the tradition of their house, he could not be married to his sister's son-in-law. Pankaj was not going to agree, he had already given his heart to Mridula. In such a situation, he had to try hard to convince his family, but he finally convinced his family. After the family agreed, both of them got married on January 15, 2004. This couple has a daughter, Aashi.
