The Malayalam Movie Artists Association (AMMA) was dissolved on Tuesday, August 27, following allegations of sexual harassment. This led to the resignation of 17 members, including AMMA president and South superstar Mohanlal.

A complaint of sexual harassment was made against three members of AMMA. A case has been registered against two of these members. The decision to dissolve the association was taken after the Hema Committee report came out.

Actually, there have been allegations of sexual exploitation of female actors in the Malayalam film industry for the last several years. To investigate this, a 3-member committee was formed in 2019 under the chairmanship of retired Justice Hema.

After 4 years, on August 19, Hema Committee submitted a 233-page report to the Kerala government, in which exploitation by many big artists came to light.

Actress Revathi said, 'I am sure that big actors of Malayalam industry like Mammootty and Mohanlal are as shocked as us to hear all this. The only difference is that we are speaking and they are silent. Actor Shammi Tilakan reacted to this matter and said, 'It seems Mohanlal has lost the ability to react.'

Mohanlal has been associated with AMMA since 1994
The Malayalam Movie Artists Association (AMMA) was formed in 1994. Many actors and actresses of the Malayalam film industry were associated with it. The work of the association was to solve the problems related to the artists.
