Launch of Proba-3 mission postponed by a day: ISRO postponed the mission due to technical problem, through this the Sun will be studied

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has postponed the launch of Proba-3 mission by one day. This mission was to be launched today i.e. Wednesday at 4:08 pm by Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota.

ISRO said that due to technical problem, the mission will now be launched on Thursday i.e., December 5 at 4:16 pm. This mission belongs to the European Space Agency (ESA). Its objective is to study the outer atmosphere of the Sun through two satellites: Coronagraph and Occulter.

Mission Polar Satellite will be launched through ISRO's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle.

Both satellites will remain at a distance of 150 meters from each other. Both satellites will revolve in the Earth's elliptical orbit. Their maximum distance from the Earth will be 60,530 Km and the second minimum will be about 600 Km. In this orbit both the satellites will be able to keep a distance of 150 meters from each other and will work like a unit.

The Occulter satellite has a 1.4-meter occluding disk designed to block the Sun's bright disk. This causes an artificial solar eclipse. Within this shadow the Coronagraph satellite will observe the solar corona with its telescope.

The primary goal of Proba-3 is to increase our understanding of space weather, including solar storms and coronal mass ejections. In this mission, the space agency also wants to validate its advanced formation-flying technologies through two satellites. Through -3, scientists want to find out why the corona is hotter than the surface of the Sun and how the solar wind accelerates.
