Tamannaah Bhatia was questioned by ED in Guwahati on Thursday in a money laundering case related to HPZ Token mobile app. The actress had received money for a celebrity appearance at an event related to the HPZ token app. Through this app, people have allegedly been duped in the name of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency.
According to PTI, Tamannaah Bhatia had received money for 'celebrity appearance' at an event related to HPZ token app. However, the report also states that there are no serious allegations against Tamannaah. She was called earlier also, but due to work she could not go, so now Tamanna reached the ED office in Guwahati, Assam on Thursday.
What is HPZ Token App
HPZ Token is a mobile app with a variety of games. It is alleged that people were defrauded of crores of rupees by promising them Rs 4,000 every day for investing Rs 57,000 through this app. To defraud, fake accounts were opened in different banks in the name of shell companies, into which money was transferred from investors. The accused invested that money in crypto and bitcoin and on many betting apps like Mahadev.
It is noteworthy that Tamannaah Bhatia's name has also come up in the Mahadev Batting App case. Apart from the actress, 17 stars like actors Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor were questioned in this case last year. The allegation was that all of them had promoted the app and appeared in its advertisements. At the same time, HPZ app is also connected to Mahadev betting app.
