Tula Sankranti on October 17: Sun will enter Libra from Virgo, there is a tradition of river bathing and charity on Sankranti.

Thursday, October 17 is Tula Sankanti i.e. on this day the Sun will enter Libra from Virgo. In astrology, the change in the zodiac sign of the Sun is called transition and Sankranti. This planet will be in Libra from 17 October to 16 November.

According to Ujjain's Astrologer Pt. Manish Sharma, Sankranti is also considered a festival. On this day, there is a tradition of taking bath in holy rivers like Ganga, Yamuna, Narmada, Shipra and doing charity on the banks of the river. One should wake up early on the morning of Sankranti and after bathing, offer water to the rising sun. Use a copper pot to offer Arghya to the Sun. Fill water in the pot and add red flowers, rice and kumkum in it, after this offer Arghya to the Sun while chanting the mantra Om Suryay Namah.

You can do these auspicious things on Tula Sankranti

If it is not possible to take bath in the river on Sankranti, then you can take bath at home by mixing a little Ganga water in water. While taking bath, meditate on the holy rivers like Ganga-Yamuna and chant this mantra – Gange Cha Yamune Chaiva Godavari Saraswati. Narmade Sindhu Kaveri water स्मिन्सन्निधिं कुरु।

Panchadev has been mentioned in the scriptures, who is worshiped at the beginning of every auspicious work. Panchadevs include Lord Ganesha, Shiva, Vishnu, Goddess Durga and Surya. Be sure to worship all these Gods and Goddesses on Tula Sankranti.

Offer Durva to Lord Ganesha. Offer Bilva leaves, Datika flowers, Dhatura and sandalwood to Lord Shiva. Offer Tulsi sweets to Lord Vishnu. Offer red chunari to Goddess Durga. Donate jaggery for Sun God.

Offering water to the Sun provides not only religious benefits but also health benefits. The early morning sun rays increase the glow of the skin, removes laziness and improves eyesight.

In Brahma Parva of Bhavishya Purana, Shri Krishna has advised his son Samb to worship Surya. Shri Krishna says that Surya is the only directly visible deity. The devotee who worships the Sun with reverence and devotion gets not only health but also good fortune.

On Tula Sankranti, things related to Sun like copper vessel, yellow or red clothes, wheat, jaggery, ruby, red sandalwood etc. can be donated.
