This is the method of celebrating Vaman Dwadashi
Now know the special things related to Vaman Dev
Vaman Dev is the fifth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Vaman appeared at a time when the terror of demon king Bali was spreading. Bali had defeated the gods and taken over heaven.
To protect the gods, Lord Vishnu was born as Vaman Dev from the womb of Devmata Aditi. That day was Bhadrapada Shukla Dwadashi.
After some time, when King Bali was performing a yagya, Lord Vamana came to Bali and asked for three steps of land in donation. When King Bali saw Vamana Dev, he thought that he is a small Brahmin, how much land can he take in three steps.
King Bali's guru Shukracharya recognized Lord Vishnu in the form of Vaman. He asked Bali not to give donation, but Bali did not listen and took a pledge to donate three steps of land.
After this, Lord Vaman assumed a huge form. God measured the earth in one step and heaven in the second step. Now there was no space left to place the third foot. Then Bali asked Lord Vaman to place his foot on his head.
As soon as Vaman Dev placed his foot on Bali's head, he reached Patala Lok. Seeing Bali's generosity, God made him the king of Patala and returned the gods their heaven.
