Diwali is on Thursday, 31 October. This year there are differences in the calendar regarding the date of Diwali. In some almanacs, Diwali has been mentioned on 1st November, but most of the almanacs and astrologers across the country are advising to celebrate Diwali on 31st October. There will be Amavasya of Kartik month on the night of 31st October and there is a tradition of worshiping Lakshmi at night on Diwali. There is a tradition of keeping garlands, flowers, sweets, incense sticks, kumkum, gulal, abir, sandalwood and some other special things in the worship of Mahalakshmi.
