Tomorrow is Chhath Puja on 7th November. Today (6 November) is the second day of Chhath Puja festival. This is the great festival of Sun worship. Arghya will be offered to the setting sun on the evening of Kartik Shukla Shashthi on 7th November and to the rising sun on the morning of 8th November.
According to Ujjain's astrologer Pt. Manish Sharma, generally there is a tradition of offering water to the rising sun, but on the festival of Chhath Puja, Arghya is offered to the setting sun. Lord Surya is among the Panchadevs and hence all auspicious works begin with the worship of Panchadevs. Arghya should be offered to the Sun God every morning. Sun worship eliminates negative thoughts and provides health benefits. One should offer water to the Sun and chant the mantras and names of the Sun. On the festival of Chhath Puja, the sister of Sun God i.e. Chhath Mata is worshipped.
