Adani Power said – electricity supply continues but outstanding is a matter of concern
An Adani Power spokesperson said, 'The company is continuing to supply electricity to Bangladesh, however the increasing arrears are a matter of major concern. This is making it difficult to run the plant. We are in constant talks with BPDB and senior government officials.
They have assured us that our dues will be paid soon. The company is confident that Bangladesh will fulfill its commitments, just as Adani has fulfilled its contractual responsibilities.
Adani provides electricity under 25 contracts signed in 2017
Adani Power is providing this electricity supply to Bangladesh under a 25-year contract signed in 2017. The company supplies this electricity from a $2 billion power plant located in Jharkhand, which has two units and each has a capacity of 800 MW.
One of the two plants closed since November, one working at 42% capacity
According to Reuters, in November, an Adani Power plant operated at only 41.82% capacity, which is the lowest this year. At the same time, another plant is closed since November 1. People associated with BPDB said that last year in winter, BPDB had purchased about 1,000 MW of electricity from Adani every month.

Bangladesh will investigate the power deal with Adani: An investigating agency will be formed for this, the agreement for power production was signed when Hasina was PM.
The troubles of Adani Group, which is surrounded by allegations of bribery in America, are increasing. It has been recommended to set up an agency to investigate the power agreement signed with Adani Group in Bangladesh when Sheikh Hasina was the PM.
The committee constituted by the interim government has recommended the formation of this agency. Besides, a demand has also been made to investigate six other big energy and power agreements made during Sheikh Hasina's tenure as PM.
