Fundamentalists canceled football matches in Bangladesh: Non-Islamic playing football of girls also vandalized the field; Second case in two days

The women's football match was canceled on Wednesday after a protest by Islamic fundamentalists in Bangladesh. This is the second such incident in recent times.

During the ongoing Friendly Women's Football match between Joypurhat and Rangpur district teams, students and teachers of Islamic School reached the ground and vandalized. After which the match was canceled.

Hundreds of Islamist in our region came on the field during the match and started sabotage. Seeing the situation deteriorating, we had to cancel the match.

During the Dinajpur protest, there was a fight between Islamic protesters and fans in the match, the two groups threw bricks at each other. Local officer Amit Roy said that four people were injured in the incident, although all have been discharged from the hospital.

Women right to participate in football: BFF The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) condemned the incident. BFF media manager Saqib said in a statement, football is for everyone and women have every right to participate in it.

After former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's withdrawal from power last year, these incidents are constantly coming to the fore. This shows that Islamic groups have increased in Bangladesh.
