Padma Award to 5 players: Sreejesh to Padma Bhushan, Ashwin 4 to Padma Shri; Ashwin retired from international cricket in December

The Central Government announced 139 Padma Awards for 2025 on Saturday on the eve of Republic Day. Former hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh has been awarded the Padma Bhushan.

The Padma Shri award is being given to 113 people, including 4 players. Recently retired cricketer R Ashwin has been given Padma Shri. Apart from Ashwin, Paralympian archer Harvinder Singh, former captain of Indian football team Invalappil Mani Vijayan and para athletics coach Satyapal Singh are included.

Satyapal Singh was awarded the Dronacharya Award in 2012.
