Times Higher Education (THE) on Wednesday, January 22 released its 2025 subject-wise rankings of universities around the world. For the first time, India's first computer science institute has been ranked in the top 100 in this ranking.

Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru is ranked 99th with a score of 60.5. IISc has improved its rank compared to last year. This institute was placed in the 101-125 band in the ranking of 2024.

Top 10 engineering institutes of the world

America's Harvard University has got the first ranking globally in the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking in engineering. It has been given an overall score of 97.5.

In the Engineering Subject Ranking 2025, Harvard University is at the top ranking with a score of 97.5 and it is also at the top with different subjects.

There are 53 Indian universities involved in Computer Science. In 2024, the number of these universities was 47 which has now increased to 96. 24 institutes have secured places in Business and Economics. In 2024, 15 universities were included in this ranking. At the same time, this year 14 Indian universities related to social sciences are included.

Oxford University tops world university ranking

THE has released the subject-wise rankings of universities around the world for 2025, which include 11 subjects: Arts and Human Resources, Business and Economics, Computer Science, Education Studies, Engineering, Law, Biology, Medical, Psychology and Social Sciences.

With 9 subjects included, the US tops the ranking, while the UK is at the second ranking.
