1. Indonesia becomes full member of BRICS group
Indonesia has become a full member of BRICS. Brazil, the chairperson of BRICS, announced this on January. Now BRICS includes 10 countries – Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, UAE and Indonesia. Brazil takes over the chairmanship of BRICS on 1 January 2025. He will hold this responsibility till the end of this year.
Indonesia's candidature to become a member of BRICS had received the support of BRICS countries in 2023 itself.
2. Petroleum Ministry released year end review
On January 7, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry released the review for the year 2024. It was told that so far 10.33 crore LPG connections have been given under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
Total LPG connections in the country are 32.83 crore. In the year 2014, there were a total of 14.52 crore LPG connections in the country. The annual per capita consumption of domestic gas in the country is 3.95 kg. The operational gas pipeline across the country has reached 24,945 kilometers.
Around 13 lakh gas cylinders are refilled daily across the country.

1. Now you can become an assistant professor without NET
Now there will be no need to clear UGC NET exam to become an Assistant Professor in Higher Education Institutes. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has released draft UGC guidelines for faculty recruitment and promotion in Higher Education Institutes i.e. HEIs. According to this, it will not be necessary to be NET qualified in the subject for Assistant Professor recruitment. In the new guidelines, candidates have the freedom to do NET from subjects other than PG. Also, without NET, candidates who have done Ph.D directly will also be able to apply for Assistant Professor recruitment.
2. GATE 2025 admit card released
IIT Roorkee has released the admit card for GATE 2025 exam. Candidates can download the admit card from gate2025.iitr.ac.in….The exam will be held on 1, 2, 15 and 16 February.
