Rajshree Thakur, who made her mark in the character of 'Saloni', is currently playing the lead role in the TV show 'Bas Itna Sa Khwaab'. Recently, during a conversation with Dainik Global News Daily, the actress shared some interesting things about her professional and personal life. He also expressed his desire to work in the biography of late actress Smita Patil. Read some key excerpts from the conversation:
Initially, when you told at home that you wanted to become an actress, what was the reaction of your family?
I come from a Marathi family, where education and a good job were always given priority. At that time bank job was considered the most secure and respectable. But I didn't have to do all this. When I told at home that I want to become an actress, father was not talking to me for many days. However, when they saw my work and the love I received from people, their thinking changed. Then the same father said, 'This is your true dream, and whatever you are doing, you are doing it very well.' This was a big moment for me, which made my dream even more special.
Have you never had the fear of focusing only on your family and leaving your own happiness aside?
I am also the mother of a very lovely daughter. Looking at our daughter, there is definitely a fear that what kind of thoughts and ideas she might be influenced by. Today's generation is very aware, they have got exposure on YouTube and social media. It is very difficult to control children because nowadays studies also happen on mobile. I never felt that I should leave everything and just focus on my daughter.
My passion, my work, my dream are also important. If I am not happy myself, I cannot keep the family happy. My happiness lies in my work, and why wouldn't I do that? Avni's story in 'Bas Itna Sa Khwaab' is also the same – she is doing it for her house, not for herself. His happiness lies in the happiness of his family.
Which Bollywood actress inspires you the most?
I like Smita Patil's work very much. There was no artificiality in her acting, she played every character with great sincerity. If his biography is made and I get an offer to take part in it, I will definitely do it. There is a lot to be learned from his work and life.
Have you tried your luck in films also? After that, did you think of trying more films?
Yes, I did a guest appearance in the Marathi film 'Hirkan', where I played the character of Maharani Ji Suyra Bai. At that time, I was specifically approached for this role because Director Prasad had seen my work in 'Maharana Pratap'. However, I deliberately did not try for any other film.
The most important thing for me was the character. If I get a powerful role, I will definitely do it. But my criteria will be what the character is. There are no restrictions in working in any medium – TV, theatre, or films. What matters to me is the important character.
