Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain, who is famous worldwide for his brilliant performances, recently canceled his tour due to his ill health. Regarding this, his brother Taufiq Qureshi told Dainik Global News Daily that Zakir is currently in America and is taking complete rest.

Taufiq Qureshi said, 'Actually, Zakir Bhai was very tired. He was touring a lot, due to which he was feeling tired. After this the doctor admitted him to the hospital for a few days. His blood pressure had increased slightly, which is a normal thing, because it happens to many people.
He further said, 'After this he was discharged from the hospital and is resting at his home in America. Later, when he felt some discomfort, he was admitted to the hospital for a few more days. But now he is fine and there is no serious problem. Right now he is in America only.
Zakir Hussain's shows cancelled, will be held on new dates in 2025
Zakir Hussain's show with Rahul Sharma at Palladium on 1 November 2024 was postponed due to health reasons. Tickets for this show will be valid on the new date in 2025.
His show in Thane on 8 December 2024 was canceled due to some reasons and the ticket money was refunded from Book My Show. Apart from this, in January 2025, Zakir Hussain will perform his shows in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Delhi.
Lived in America for last 40 years, still holds Indian passport
Let us tell you, Zakir Hussain has been living in America for the last 40 years. He lives in a small town called San Anselmo, which is near the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Zakir Hussain was born in India and began his studies and art there.
In an interview he had said, 'India always holds a special place in my heart, and I cannot express it in words.' He still holds his Indian passport.

Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain was honored by the Government of India with 'Padma Shri' in 1988, 'Padma Bhushan' in 2002 and 'Padma Vibhushan' in 2023.
At the Grammy Awards on 8 February 2009, he won a 'Grammy' for the album 'Global Drum Project'. He also received the 'Sangeet Natak Akademi Award' in 1990 and the 'Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship' in 2018. In 1999, he received 'National Heritage Fellowship' from America's 'National Endowment for the Arts'.
Till now Zakir Hussain has been nominated for 'Grammy' seven times, and has won this award four times. He received three 'Grammy Awards' in February 2024.
