Rebels captured Aleppo city in Syria in 4 days: Army fled, people ordered to stay in homes; 300 killed in Russian attack

Rebel groups in Syria have captured most parts of Aleppo city within 4 days. According to CNN report, the attack began on Wednesday and by Saturday, fighters took control of a large part of Aleppo while capturing nearby villages. This forced the Syrian army to retreat from its post. Several dozen soldiers died in the attack. The rebels captured all the main areas of the city.

After the capture, the fighters were seen firing in the air on the streets and raising slogans of Allah-Hu-Akbar. After this, for the safety of citizens, orders were given to stay indoors for 24 hours on Saturday. According to BBC, so far more than 300 people have been killed in these attacks, out of which 20 are civilians.

In 2016, Assad's army had driven these rebels from Aleppo. Now after 8 years, the place has been captured by the rebels. However, some areas in the northern part of Aleppo are still under the control of the Syrian Army and Iranian militias.

Russia has carried out air strikes on convoys and positions of rebel groups to help the Syrian army. According to Al-Jazeera, Russia has claimed that 300 rebels have been killed in these air strikes.

According to the New York Times, the rebel group includes Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its affiliated organizations. They have the support of Al Qaeda.

Russian and Syrian armies preparing to drive back the rebels

The Syrian Defense Ministry has confirmed the attack and said that Aleppo has been captured by the rebels. Several dozen soldiers have been killed in this attack. The ministry said rebels had not yet established any strong positions in Aleppo. The Syrian army, along with Iranian militias and Russia, is preparing to drive back the rebels. For this, with the help of the Russian army, air strikes are being carried out on the bases of rebel groups in Aleppo and Idlib. According to Reuters, Syrian military sources have revealed that Russia is preparing to provide additional military aid to Syria, which will start being sent within 72 hours.

Kurdish fighters also joined the war

Kurdish fighters have also captured parts of Aleppo. Kurdish fighters have captured some of the areas which were under the control of Assad's army till last week. These Kurdish fighters are also fighting against the rebel group. Therefore, on Saturday, rebel groups also attacked the positions of Kurdish fighters in Aleppo.
