Poland's five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek has accepted a one-month doping suspension after testing positive for the banned substance trimetazidine (TMZ). The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) gave this information on Thursday night. Inga is the second number player in the women's tennis ranking.
23-year-old Iga was tested positive for drugs during a tournament in August. ITIA had sought clarification from the Polish star. In such a situation, Swiatek admitted that this had happened unknowingly. Inga was taking this over-the-counter medicine 'melatonin' for jet lag and sleep problems. The ITIA said his level of fault was at the lowest end of the negligence spectrum.
