Now only 2 attempts will be available in JEE Advanced: IIT Kanpur withdrew the decision of 3 attempts; 12th pass out in 2023

The Joint Admission Board (JAB) of IIT has once again changed the rule of three attempts for JEE Advanced. Now, like before, candidates will get only two chances.

Joint Admission Board (JAB) issued a press release giving this information. In this press release it was said that the board has withdrawn the criteria issued earlier.

In the meeting of JAB members on November 15, it was decided that only the criteria made in 2013 would be followed. The decision of three attempts was canceled in the JAB meeting. After the new decision, candidates who have passed 12th will also not be eligible for this. Candidates who have passed 12th in 2023 will not be eligible for this. However, the candidates whose result has been released after September 21, 2023, will be eligible for it.

12th pass in 2023 will not be eligible

Such candidates who passed 12th in 2023 and after qualifying Mains could not get admission in IIT due to their backward rank in Advanced. They will be out of it now.

Even experts are surprised by IIT changing its final decision regarding the attempt so late. Data shows that there are 1500 students who were studying in NIT and had enrolled for JEE Main.

According to the new guidelines of NTA, candidates will now have a maximum of three attempts, which they can give continuously.

It has also been said in the notification that till now the top 2.5 lakh students who qualified JEE Mains were eligible for JEE Advanced. But this time this number can be increased.
