Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Visakhapatnam's Waltair division, Saurabh Prasad, had demanded a bribe of Rs 25 lakh from a Mumbai contractor.
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths on Saturday arrested Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Visakhapatnam's Waltair division Saurabh Prasad on corruption charges. Saurabh Kumar is accused of demanding and taking a bribe of Rs 25 lakh from a Mumbai contractor. CBI has also arrested the bribe giver.
According to media reports, DRM had demanded Rs 25 lakh from the contractor in connection with a tender related to the mechanical branch. To take bribe, he reached Mumbai, where the officers of the CBI team that had come from Delhi caught him. Following the arrest, CBI officials searched the DRM office in Visakhapatnam from where several documents were seized.

The accused is a 1991 batch Railway Mechanical Engineering officer. According to sources, DRM of Visakhapatnam division Saurabh Prasad is a 1991 batch mechanical engineering railway officer. He was appointed as DRM in Visakhapatnam a year ago. CBI will give complete information regarding his arrest on Monday morning.
CBI had arrested five railway officials in July Before this incident, a similar case had come to light in July, when CBI had arrested five senior Railway officers on corruption charges. These included Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Guntakal Division, Vineet Singh.
The CBI had conducted this operation to expose alleged financial and administrative irregularities in the Guntakal Railway Division. During the investigation, CBI teams recovered huge amounts of cash from the houses of some of the accused. Around Rs 7 lakh was seized from the residence of Vineet Singh and Rs 11 lakh was seized from three other persons.
