In Mohali, Punjab, cyber criminals created a fake business group on Telegram and stole Rs. More than Rs 2.45 lakh was stolen. The victim has complained about this to the Cyber Police Station.
The young man said that he had received a message on Telegram, through which he was invited to join the business group. 78 people were already associated with that group. Earnings worth lakhs of rupees were claimed in this group. The group promised to earn easy money sitting at home by doing small tasks.
The first task the young man got was to book some rooms in a hotel. When he completed the task, he also got a payment of Rs 1,017. This was an income which was earned by sitting at home without doing much. Apparently, this increased both his hope and his greed.
After this, he was forced to deposit more money in his bank account, so that he could complete further tasks and a larger amount could be transferred to his account. He transferred money to his account several times and immediately Rs 2 lakh, 45 thousand, 302 went missing from his account.
It is possible that the youth's account or mobile may have been hacked by scammers, about which the youth had no knowledge. The greed to earn a few rupees overpowered him and he lost his hard-earned money.
